چکیده

The roll forming industry has many difficulties in product development and process set-up. The design and development of rolls and processes re mainly based on trial-and-error and past experiences. Recent industrial trends demand products having high quality and tight tolerances. This equires more precise and cost-effective roll-forming processes than the ones employed in the traditional product development methods. SHAPE is a reliable FE based solution provider, which covers a wide range of roll forming and rotary forming simulations including ring rolling, ube spinning, flow forming, and thread rolling. It also provides powerful analysis tools for heat transfer, roll stress and microstructure analyses. n this chapter the technical capability of SHAPE for roll forming is assessed by studying an industrial problem. The accuracy and robustness of he software is evaluated using machine shop results. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Optimization of the strain distribution in the roll forming process using the desirability function and finite element methods

Defects of the roll forming process are affected by amount and situation of the strains distribution. The effect of the process parameters on the strain distribution in the round cross section roll forming process has been studied. Finite element and response surface method have been used for process modelling. Then desirability functions approach and overlaid counter plots have been employed f...

Determination of Buckling Limit of Strain in Cold Roll Forming through Finite Element Analysis

In this study, Buckling Limit of Strain (B.L.S.) is introduced as one of the most important limiting factors in cold roll forming process. B.L.S. is calculated by the finite element procedure. Then for two particular processes with existing analysis and experimental results, B.L.S. has been determined and evaluated. LUSAS 12.3 is used for finite element analysis. The results show that when buck...
